Sandman Movie No Longer A Dream!

It’s now official, David Goyer‘s big screen adaptation of the critically acclaimed comic series Sandman is ready for liftoff. The big question has just been answered on who will play Morpheus: Lord of Dreams himself. Following his successful run as director/actor in “Don Jon”, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to play both the main character and director of this comic book to movie adaptation as well!

The film looks to have great traction so far with the legendary Neil Gaiman also joining in as executive producer. Gaiman was the mind behind the critically acclaimed comic book series.

“The Sandman” was published by DC Comics for 75 issues between 1989 and 1996. It centers on the character Dream, the Lord of Dreams (also known, to various characters throughout the series, as Morpheus, Oneiros, the Shaper, the Shaper of Form, Lord of the Dreaming, the Dream King, Dream-Sneak, Dream Cat, Murphy, Kai’ckul, and Lord L’Zoril), who is essentially the anthropomorphic personification of dreams. The series shifts between horror and fantasy and tells the story of Morpheus being held captive 70 years who then escapes, gains revenge and rebuilds his crumbling kingdom while trying to adapt to the times.

No news yet on when filming would start but stay tuned as this story develops.

UPDATE 1: JGL not yet confirmed to play as Morpheus. This was taken via his FB account — “Just to clarify, folks. I’ve signed on as a producer on Sandman. The rest remains to be seen. Delighted you guys are excited. I am too!”
