Has DC and Warner Bros. finally found its main antagonist? Sources say that they found the guy who will play evil mastermind Lex Luthor in the upcoming movie: Batman vs Superman.

After a solid performance in the movie “Her“, Joaquin Phoenix is being floated around as the man who will play the billionaire genius. Phoenix and his reps have not confirmed this yet but it is being strongly suggested that this is a done deal after Jason Momoa and Gal Gadot being announced recently that they won’t be playing any antagonist roles in the movie.

Luthor has previously been played by Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey, while Michael Rosenbaum‘s portrayal of the villain was seen in the Smallville television show.

Meanwhile, Warner Brothers producer and Hitman director Daniel Alter recently tweeted a possible plot spoiler for the film, when he wrote:

“Need to talk to some people tnite about #doomsday in #BatmanvsSuperman”

Alter then after a few days squashed the hype after he clarified that he is “not speaking as a representative/involved in #BatmanvsSuperman. Just a fan/in the biz/hear things..”

We will update you guys once a confirmation is in place and also for any more casting news so stay tuned!

Batman vs Superman hits theaters on July 17, 2015. Directed by Zack Snyder. With Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Jason Momoa.

Hi I'm Mac. The day my father Odin banished me from Asgard, I was bitten by a vampire and had radioactive waste dumped into my eyes. To make matters worse, my mutant ability to control weather activated just as I was hit by a blast of gamma radiation.
